It was both humbling and heart-warming to witness the kindness and thoughtfulness that individuals, corporates, schools and community groups showed to our little people over the holidays. Indeed, it was a festive season for them.
Every child had a new outfit; more than one present to open; good, nutritious food and enough milk formula to keep their tummies full and to help them grow. We won’t lie, they also had sweets and treats and all the good things too.
The ‘public’ responded very quickly and meaningfully to an emergency appeal on Instagram. We were in a situation where we could not admit five abandoned babies directly into our care but undertook to assist the social worker in raising sufficient nappies and milk formula to enable the babies to be placed into foster care at very short notice before the holidays. Our mission was accomplished and all the babies were in temporary family care, and not hospital cots, for Christmas. To all who contributed – YOU ARE ANGELS!
While our children are at the heart of everything that we do, their Christmas fun couldn’t happen with the unsung heroes, their caregivers, who continue to work throughout the holidays ensuring that they are well-cared for and sacrificing the time with their own families.
A very warm and sincere thank you to you all!
